Iowa
We have a vivid memory of a small hotel in Davenport, Iowa, where we had to meet some foreign nationals to prepare them for trial. In those years, we’d been hired by a company to defend any case brought by a rather litigious plaintiff’s lawyer from a particular town, which we shall not name. Meredith Willson knew whereof he spoke when he wrote of “Iowa stubborn” in “The Music Man.” It’s a very positive trait in some, but it can be “interesting” in others.
